This Memorial Day had me thinking about someone who was never in the military, but definitely saw war.
I used to work for a company that did home restoration work...fire damage, flood damage, mold remediation, basically anything bad that could happen to your house. After Hurricane Sandy, pretty much the whole company packed up and went down to Long Island to work the damage. We went down at the behest of a real estate company that had some houses down there, but quickly became swamped with requests and the massive scale of the devastation. They gave us a beachhouse to stay in, but there was no water, no working toilets, no power.

That's what it feels like...life on hold. Waiting for my back to heal is like watching paint dry. Only eventually the paint will dry. OK, pity party over. Time to get some sleep. Another re-exam with the doctors in the AM.

Been a while since was in here. Seems I'll have more time here for a while. Broke my back (literally) at work. Three discs affected, nerve roots to my right leg involved. Not sure when (or if) I'll be back to 100%. At least I'm out of the hospital now. Latest fun was an "EMG." This is a test of nerve viability. They test both legs for comparison. Basically they stick needles into all the nerve roots from the base of the spine to the feet, then hook them up to wires connected to a machine that sends electric shocks and times how long it takes to get from one to the next. Did I mention no anesthetics or numbing agent
